Loctite Adhesives
Technology: Evaporative
Cooling & Heat Recovery Systems
Ambient temperatures in excess of 42C were
being experienced in the clients lead powder production
area, caused by excessive heat loads generated by lead furnaces
on a
mezzanine floor.
Employee productivity remained low and absenteeism high
during the warm summer months. Product quality was being
effected as the process required low temperatures
during atomisation.
MECHON were commissioned to design and install heat extraction
and evaporative cooling systems to overcome the issues raised.
A series of six roof extract fans were installed above the
mezzanine area, extracting the warm air as it rises from
the process equipment.
An evaporative cooling system was installed to supply tempered
air to the production area through a series of grilles,
mounted within a system of high level ductwork, spanning
all areas within the facility.
Temperatures within the area have since not exceeded 28oC,
resulted in consistent product quality and improved working
conditions for employees.
