Control
Noise is one of the most widespread and
underestimated of industrial hazards: exposure to excessive
noise can cause deafness or ringing in the ear (Tinnitus).
The Control of Noise at Work Regulations came into force
on 6th April 2006, applicable to the majority of industry
sectors within the UK. This new noise control legislation
strengthens the protection of employees against the
hazardous effects of noise.
The MECHON team are able to undertake
a two phase action plan to resolve your industrial noise
issues. The first step is to conduct an in depth noise
assessment to determine the exact causes of high noise
exposure levels. Equipped with this information, MECHON
experts are able to select from a wide variety of sound
reduction techniques to ensure improved working conditions
of employees.
Noise control assessments are undertaken
by competent persons and produced to the highest standard.
Our noise assessments include the following content:
- Identification of noise hazards
- Identification of employees at risk
from high noise levels
- Noise exposure readings using a combination
of sound level meters and dosimeters
- Evaluation of noise levels to stipulated
action levels within the Regulations
- Evaluation of current noise control
measures and recommended improvements
- Advice on hearing protection zones,
suitable hearing protectors and their use
Armed with individual equipment and location
noise levels, MECHON are able to design and install
systems that will reduce the level of noise exposure
. Noise reduction techniques include:
- Surface damping
- Inline and splitter silencers for fans
- Acoustic enclosures
- Noise barriers and baffles
- Acoustic louvres
- Absorptive panels
- Pneumatic exhaust silencers
