| Services
Our aim is to provide an all encompassing
service that complements our high quality designs and
installations.
1. Technologies
MECHON are not limited to selling specific products,
enabling us to offer tailor-made solutions, listed on
the website under the following technology categories:
Please click on the links for further
details.
2. Plant and Site Assessment
MECHON offers a free of charge, no obligation site survey
in which we will assess the nature of your problem and
its impact on your productivity, operating efficiencies,
employees’ health and welfare, and the environment.
Our experience shows that there is a tendency for designers
to ignore the effects of new air systems on surrounding
support systems, resulting in the need for future upgrades
or complete redesign of these support systems. Examples
of these oversights include;
- Loss in heating or cooling capabilities
of existing air conditioning systems due to the installation
of new fume, dust, or waste extraction systems
- Disregard for the amount of heat loss
caused by extraction systems; easily resolved by cost
effective heat recovery systems
- Unacceptable increases in airborne
noise levels due to newly installed equipment
- Increased risk to health and welfare
of employees due to poor hood, ductwork, and abatement
plant design
- Total disregard of applicable legislation
applicable the client’s industry: process guidance
notes, environmental technical guidance notes, CoSHH
legislation, DSEAR Legislation, and Solvent emissions
directive
MECHON undertake assessments which include
an in-depth analysis of existing plant and equipment,
enabling us to incorporate any existing equipment (such
as air handing units, filters, hoods, and ductwork)
into the future design and limiting the impact of the
design on other associated systems within the area.
3. System Design and Consultation
MECHON undertake all aspects of the new system design
ensuring that all components are suitable for the application
and that the design will have limited impact on existing
operations.
MECHON will undertake design work for the issue of Technical
Specifications to Third Parties, or as part of a complete
turnkey project in which MECHON is responsible for the
project management, installation, and commissioning.
MECHON encourages continuous consultation with the Client
to guarantee a system that meets with the Client’s
expectations.
All design work is carried out by fully qualified engineers:
specialists the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Engineering
Drawings, Project and Site Management, Manufacturing
Technology, and Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation.
4. AutoCAD General Arrangement & Detailed
Drawings
MECHON utilises the latest AutoCAD software to design
and develop equipment, structures, and installation
drawings.
Our design team pays particular attention to the drawing
process, as clear and accurate drawings undoubtedly
result in equipment which safe to use, to the highest
quality, and allow trouble-free and efficient installation
and operation.
We are able to offer the following drawing services
as part of any contract:
- Planning application drawings
- Installation and General arrangement
drawings
- Detailed drawings of equipment and
structures
- Services Drawings
- Drawing Items Lists
Our designers are fully trained to critically
assess the design proposals at an early stage, identifying
all risks that may arise during the constructions phase.
We extend this responsibility to also consider the health
and safety of those who maintain, repair, and clean
the systems. These activities are fundamental in complying
with the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
5. Manufacture and Supply
MECHON have the ability to manufacture or supply all
components required for our installations. The equipment
is designed by MECHON and manufactured through a network
of dedicated facilities, guaranteeing timely delivery
and high quality workmanship. Types of manufactured
equipment include: filtration plant, fans, separators,
hoods, ductwork, and steelwork structures. Equipment
not manufactured by MECHON is carefully selected from
an approved list of suppliers, to ensure the highest
quality standards and high operating efficiencies.
6. Installation and Project Management
MECHON assumes all aspects of managing the project,
from the initial design phase, to final commissioning
and handover. For all larger contracts, the client is
invited to participate in devising a project plan, after
which a complete Gantt chart is issued to monitor the
progress of the works.
Installation work is carried out by competent personnel,
all fully trained in ever aspect of construction work.
A site manager is appointed to oversee all installation
work, liaising between the client and the construction
personnel.
7. Risk Assessments and Method Statements
We at MECHON take the health and safety of our construction
personnel, and that of your employees, very seriously.
All tasks are assessed prior to commencing the construction
phase of the project, to identify any potential hazards
and to put in place control measures to limit the risks
to employees.
8. Commissioning
Sub-standard commissioning can result in systems which
operate below their design duties, potentially putting
employees at risk, and leaving equipment to operate
at efficiencies below their peak conditions. MECHON
performs all necessary equipment checks to ensure that
there are no defects or deficiencies that could result
in risk to staff and high running and maintenance costs.
9. Annual CoSHH LEV Reports
Regulation 9 of COSHH requires that any measures taken
to control the exposure of employees to hazardous substances
must be maintained in an efficient state and working
order, good repair, and in clean condition.
LEV systems should be examined and tested at least once
every 14 months. There are minimum frequencies for LEV
systems used in conjunction with processes listed in
Schedule 4 to regulation 9(2)(a) as shown in the table
below.
| Process |
Minimum
Frequency |
| Processes in which blasting is carried
out in or incidental to the cleaning of metal castings
in connection with their manufacture |
1 month |
| Jute cloth manufacture |
1 month |
| Processes other than wet processes,
in which metal articles(other than of gold, platinum
or iridium) are ground, abraded or polished using
mechanical power, in any room for more than 12 hours
per week |
6 months |
| Processes giving off dust or fume
in which non-ferrous metal castings are produced |
6 months |
All CoSHH LEV Assessments are carried
out by fully competent personnel, equipped with the
latest test equipment to ensure accurate recordings.
Test equipment includes:
- Digital manometers (for static and
velocity pressures)
- Digital hot-wire anemometer (for air
velocities)
- Smoke testers
- Dust Lamps
Test reports and system diagrams for
each LEV system are normally issued within two weeks
of completing all of the examinations. The reports are
issued accordance with CoSHH Regulation 9 and the HSE
Guidance Booklet (HSG54)
10. Preventative Maintenance Schedules &
Back-Up Spares Supply
At MECHON, we recognise that equipment downtime could
relate to lost revenues. MECHON offers Preventative
Maintenance Schedules (PPM's) for our customers’
equipment. In short, this means we will service a piece
of equipment covered by the schedule, enabling us to:
- Carry out tests to ensure that the
equipment conforms to the original specification and
optimum capacity and efficiency
- Identify any potential problems and
provide costs for repair
- Carry out replacement of general wear
items
Preventative Maintenance Schedules have
been shown to:
- Improve system reliability
- Decrease cost of replacement
- Decrease system downtime
- Improve inventory management
We maintain a register of all service
an inspection visits, warning the clients any overdue
activities.
